PKYa-10 Egg Quality Metering Device

General Guidelines

PKYa-10 device is designed for use as a portable light-emitting instrument for the visual quality monitoring of hen’s eggs at poultry factories, laboratories, at the enterprises of food industry, in the sales chain. An incandescent lamp of Type B and rated for 220−230 V/100 W is used as the light source. PKYa-10 device is designed for operation under ambient temperatures ranging within +5°С to +40°С.

Arrangement

In terms of design, PKYa-10 device is made as a metal cylinder, with an electric socket to fit an incandescent lamp placed in the base of the cylinder. PKYa-10 device is powered from the single-phase AC mains supply rated at 220 V/50 Hz. The device is connected to the mains with a plug, with a toggle switch used to power on/off. An incandescent lamp is used as the light source.

Operating Procedure

Install PKYa-10 device on the table:

— earth PKYa-10 device and connect it to the mains line, switch it on and off for a short time to make sure the lamp glows;

— place the eggs to be examined into the cells in the upper lid;

— switch on the backlit of PKYa-10 device with a toggle switch. Switch on the backlit for no more than 1 minutes followed by a switch-off for at least 2 minutes; and

— inspect the quality of eggs visually.

PKYa-10 device allows diagnosing the following items:

— small and large spots under the shell;

— cracks;

— turbid (opaque) eggs; and

— presence of foreign matters.

A quality egg should be transparent.
