Laboratory solid-contact electrode with a crystal membrane to determine bromium ions. Suitable for operation with various modern laboratory ion-meters.
The membrane is made of pressurised Ag2S powder with additions of AgBr halogenide. Of impeding effect are all the ions able to interact with the membrane material, which results in formation of less soluble salts. In analyzing low concentrations of halogenides, an electrolyte flowing out of the reference electrode can cause errors and mistakes. Therefore, in using ELIS-131(Br) Electrode, a two-key reference electrode filled with KNO3 solution is recommended rather than KCl.
Choosing an ion-selective electrode, first of all make sure the measurement technique is applicable to the specific conditions. In case of any problems, contact the experts or developers of the measurement methodology. Remember that most ion-selective electrodes do not offer high selectivity and demonstrate a fairly narrow measurement range which makes up 4 to 6 orders of concentrations. While making decision to purchase a specific electrode, it is important to thoroughly estimate its specifications, recommendations for use and impeding ions.
